Silver Filling Removal

Why is Silver Filling Removal Necessary?
Old silver fillings can crack over time and “leak” bacteria, thus causing a recurrent cavity under the filling. Recurrent cavities can lead to root canal therapy and a need for a crown. At Atlantic Dental Group, you can get a silver filling removal and have it replaced with another silver filling or composite resins (tooth color fillings), and larger silver fillings can be replaced with porcelain onlays.
Natural-Look, Tooth-Color Fillings
The composite resin we use for natural-look fillings comes in a wide range of shades and can be molded and sculpted to create almost any shape or contour – all in the interest of creating the perfect match for your other teeth in overall proportion and tone). And the resin is bonded to ensure a seal is formed to reduce any chance of leakage (a common problem with silver fillings).
NOTE: With an intraoral camera, we can show you the very small and hidden cracks in your silver fillings. Call us for a complementary consultation.
